Newcastle bound

Off to Newcastle today for a weekend of relaxing, eating, going to a rugby match (not my choice of activity but I’ll go with it, apparently it’s a big one), and seeing family and friends!

This zingy lime drizzle loaf cake is coming with us. Really simple to make and is lovely to eat cold / at room temperature with a cup of tea or warm with some cream for dessert! Next time I think I will try adding some coconut or spices to add a twist on it (this is usually how my dishes begin!)

Fresh Pesto

Look at that colour 😍 worth making from scratch for the colour alone, but the fresh, vibrant flavour is also incredible! Will be serving this later as part of our dinner when our friends from Lincoln come to visit us. Saturday morning spent very happily in the kitchen! 👩🏻‍🍳

Sunday brunch

Sunday brunch – not something I often treat myself to when I’m at home at the weekend, but an activity I always really like doing and should do more often!

Enjoyed this delicious eggs, avocado & smoked salmon combination this morning with friends 🍳🥑🍞

Meze & More on the road

My younger sister is currently at university in Newcastle and I love coming to visit her at least a couple of times a year, so it was absolutely lovely for me to bring Meze & More up here and host a supper club for her in her flat with her uni friends last night.

The girls were such great guests and it was a pleasure to hear that they enjoyed the meal as much as I enjoyed preparing it!

Supper Club Dessert (or breakfast!)

Tonight I am having 3 of my best girlfriends over for dinner to be the first guests to try my Winter Supper Club menu. Just finished one of the desserts that will be served as part of the Sweet Meze course – Winter Spiced Pear & Ginger Cheesecake, topped with orange zest, flaked almonds and a dusting of ‘snow’ aka icing sugar. I wouldn’t be a proper cook if I didn’t taste my food before serving it… therefore have just enjoyed a piece with a cup of tea for breakfast. It is also the weekend! Now to work out how best to slice and serve it…

Middle Eastern Sunday Dinner

Had such a lovely Sunday afternoon listening to the radio with a glass of wine and preparing this meal for my boyfriend and his friend! A perfect Sunday for me.

Roasted Chicken Thighs with Harissa & Chickpeas, Sweet Potato Wedges with Polenta & Sumac, Cumin Roasted Whole Cauliflower with Green Tahini Sauce.

Festive Supper Club

Last night I hosted a Festive Supper Club for a couple of my oldest and closest friends, with dishes that stayed true to my Middle Eastern and Persian style of cooking but with a traditional British Christmassy twist – adding Turkey, Cranberries, Sprouts, Chestnuts and Mince Pies throughout the menu!
