Middle Eastern Shortbread

This week’s Sweet Meze: Middle Eastern Shortbread – a warmly spiced and nutty twist on a classic Scottish biscuit.

Otherwise known as Ghraybeh, which are Lebanese Biscuits, traditionally these are flavoured with orange blossom water but as I didn’t have this in my cupboard I went for a little almond extract instead to make them marzipan-like (because I love the taste and it is almost Christmas!) and also added cinnamon to embrace the festive theme even more.
